On 1 February 2025, CEMACON, Romania’s ceramic block market leader, successfully completed its merger with EURO CĂRĂMIDA, marking an important moment in the history of both companies.
CEMACON SA’s acquisition of EURO CĂRĂMIDA SA in 2023 involved an impressive investment of more than EUR 30 million. This amount covered both the transaction costs and the funding of modernisation projects planned for the following years. CEMACON aimed to establish a new standard of excellence in Romania’s construction industry by acquiring and modernising a foreign company that was not competitive.
“In approximately a year and a half, we have managed to transfer the necessary know-how and invest in technological upgrades, making the most of the acquired company’s resources. Today, we offer our customers an expanded and diversified portfolio of construction materials, prompt and efficient services, and improved logistics coverage in the west of the country. In addition, the cost optimisation and operational efficiency resulting from this merger enable us to offer more competitive prices, supporting our partners in growing and developing their businesses,” said Daniel Șologon, CEMACON CEO.
CEMACON has made significant investments in modernising its production lines through energy-efficiency and technological upgrade projects. The company has also paid particular attention to employees’ working conditions, modernising workspaces and creating dedicated areas for relaxation and socialising. In addition, CEMACON has equipped an in-house laboratory with state-of-the-art technology and optimised its logistics processes. Products manufactured in Biharia meet the standards required for export and will soon reach markets in neighbouring countries. “With the merger completed, we are entering the final stage before starting exports of key, high-quality, environmentally friendly products made from 100% natural Romanian clay. This strategic step will open up new opportunities and strengthen the CEMACON group’s presence in the region,” emphasised Daniel Șologon.
